If you would like to book we can plan a date and I will send you a link to my booking form. Once you have completed it and paid the Session Fee you are all confirmed!

What are family sessions like?

I love to get a combination of the ‘everyone smile!’ images and relaxed candid images that tell the story of your family. We can start off with some group shots altogether and then lets have some fun. Its a great idea to plan some kind of activity that takes the attention off the camera, I can give you some suggestions and will spend some time talking to you in advance to find out what kind of session you would like.

Where do you hold the session?

We can plan together a location that suits you. I love to photograph families at home, there is something significant and relaxing about being in your own home. I will find the beautiful light and then lets just have fun! Or I have some great locations for outdoor shoots, we can talk about where will suit the style of images that you want (Soft and golden? Funky and modern? Country or urban?)

What time of day is best?

Beautiful light is the key to beautiful images, and the best time of day is the hour before sunset. Photos taken outdoors in the middle of the day often have harsh unflattering light and deep shadows, so it is worth waiting for the late afternoon.

 What do we wear?

Gone are the days of white T-shirts and blue jeans (phew!). The most important thing is that you are all comfortable and happy with what you are wearing. Colours and layers are great, especially for children. I do suggest staying away from too many patterns and writing or big logos, as they can be very distracting in the finished images. Solid black doesn’t shoot well and I recommend not wearing it. Hot pink can also be quite full-on in images but lighter pinks are fine. If you would like to coordinate the colours of your outfits, try choosing a few colours to work with, and lay them all out on a bed to see how they combine.

Does my bum look big in this?

No it looks awesome! You are gorgeous and loved, and its time for you to exist in the photos too, as a gift to yourself and your family who love you. Trust me, I am all about flattering photos and am not adverse to a little gentle photoshopping 😉 You get to choose the images you love and your family gets to keep treasured memories of you forever.

How do I schedule a newborn session?

I highly recommend booking your newborn session before baby arrives, just let me know your due date and I will pencil you in around then. Once baby arrives let me know and we can firm up a time.

How long does it take for our images to be ready?

I select the best images from your session and custom edit each one, a process which takes many hours. I usually expect to have them finished within two weeks of your session, I will let you know if it is a particularly busy time and may take longer.

How do I order our final images?

At the time of your session we will book in a date roughly two weeks later to view your gallery, and you can decide how you would like to keep them. I believe in printing photos! And I want to take all the effort out of it for you. Whether you would like your family art on the wall as a canvas, framed prints, in a photo book, or printed for you to frame, my goal is that your images don’t languish on a disc but are seen and enjoyed every day. No pressure or obligation though, that is so not me, my goal is for you to be happy!

Can I have the digital files?

Yes absolutely! Digitals are available to purchase either separately or as part of a package.

What if I need to reschedule?

Your Session Fee is non-refundable but I am happy to transfer your booking to another date, depending on availability. If someone is sick it is a good idea to reschedule. If the weather is looking problematic I will stay in touch and if necessary we will find another date or a wet-weather option.

I’d like photos at the beach or somewhere out of Hamilton, do you travel?

Yes, just give me a call and we can make a plan. I LOVE beach sessions (wish I lived at a beach!). Travel outside of Hamilton will incur an extra cost dependant on distance.
